Overview - Committed to helping students meet their educational goals.

CHESLA was created by the state of Connecticut in 1982 to help students and families afford the costs of a college education by reducing the financial burdens of borrowing. CHESLA serves as an alternative source of loan funds for students who do not qualify for need-based loans, who need to borrow more than the maximum amounts provided by other loan programs, or who seek the type of loan options and high quality service provided by alternative state loan programs.

Should you require additional information about the Authority please contact CHESLA\'s Executive Director at ragostag@theccic.org

Note - Below is a link to the new Connecticut contractor contribution ban located on the State Elections Enforcement Commission web site.  The effective date for the contribution ban is December 31, 2006.  The ban includes companies contracting with either state or quasi-state organizations in Connecticut.

Please click on the link below for further information regarding the ban.  Please contact CHESLA's Executive Director Gloria Ragosta if you have questions.  CHESLA reports monthly on all expenditures by vendor/contract.  The Elections Enforcement Commission will combine all state/quasi-state contracts by company to determine which contracts are equal to $100,000 or more.  All state and quasi-state agencies report contracts of $50,000 or more.
